Yesterday's workouts:

weights
50 min tempo run

I did my run inside on the treadmill yesterday because of the huge amount of wind and possible storms.

Today I have a TS of 3000 yds and then a TB of 75 min.

I swam 4,000 yds today. Not quite sure if I have ever swam that distance before, maybe once..? It is 2.3 miles. My race will be 2.4 miles or about 4,200 yds. It took me 1 hr and 27 minutes. Some people get out of the water in 50 minutes in the long distances...but me..slowly plodding along. I guess on a positive note I get 2 hrs and 20 minutes to swim the distance...so I guess at least I know I can finish before they kick me out! To make today worse I swam next to some really fast lady. She made me look like I wasn't even moving.

After I swam I had an easy 30 minute run with a low heart rate. Easy days have lower heart rates, moderate days..well moderate hr..long days you are suppose to run the gammet in the heart rate up to your max..and tempo days are staying close to your max the whole time. Easy runs are frustrating to me because I have to go even slower. I have to be a believer I will get faster...just annoying since whatever I had built before I lost when I couldn't run for 6 weeks or so.

Today I have also been trying to find a hotel in London for the two days that we are staying there in June. Hotels are really expensive when you are high maintenance :) Besides I am looking for a place that has a gym so at least I can get a workout in..and if it has a pool even better. My training people suggested I bring my bike...but that would be quite impossible since I am going to be in London, Paris and some small town (which I don't want to go to). Hopefully, I don't lose too much fitness.

Workouts:
LS 4,000yds (87 min)
ER 31 min (3 miles)

Monday I decided that I would do my long run because I could run at night when it was cooler out. I lifted earlier in the day and did an easy spin on my bike of about 45min. Later in the night I did my run. It was not a good run...for some reason my legs were tired and never got better during the entire run. It was probably the weights earlier and maybe I hadn't eaten enough before the run. On the way out Stella decided she was tired and wasn't too excited to be out...so at the turn around I thought I was headed home to drop her off. However, we ran into some sprinklers along the way and after her bathing herself and getting a drink we continued on. It ended up being a 10 mile run..but not a very good one.

Monday's workout:
weights
45 min EB
1hr 40 min LR (10 miles)

Today I got up early for me (900 am) and went for my long ride. Keeping in mind that my legs were probably not totally recovered from the run the night before that had ended at 945pm. I went out early to beat some of the heat. I rode a new ride today and rode on WCR 8 all the way out to the I76 frontage road. Then headed north to Hudson. Here I was suppose to go across this busy road to the other side and ride for about 7 more miles north to keenesburg..but I thought I would go straight and see where this road took me. Well, I should follow directions because it ended about 3 miles up the road. I turned around and started back. I got to a known part of my ride (WCR 6 and CO) and realized I was only 2.5 hours into my ride. Annoying. So, then I headed up to Longmont area and turned around and came back home. The ride ended up being 3 hr 51 minutes in the heat and about 70 miles (It might have been 68). My legs were pretty tired during the ride and more so when I realized I had 1.5 hrs left when I looked at the clock. After the ride I showered ate, napped and ate again. Then I went to the store and I have practice later.
Hot days make you tired. I am wondering where the moderate temperature (no wind) days are??

Sunday, May 18, 2008

Saturday I went biking and it was very hot out. I biked up to WCR 6 and met my parents and then biked with them on this road for about 15 miles. Then they left and I went back and continued riding. I rode about 50 miles.

Sunday I got up and it was even hotter today. I pulled weeds in the yard, cleaned out my car..made lunch..actually vacuumed my car and cleaned it all...then washed the car. After this I went and bought the new Oakley girls endure glasses then went to Cole's bday party and off to my game. When I got home at 900 it was still so nice out so I went for a 5 mile run.

Weekend workouts:
MB 2hr 40 min (48 miles)

Dear Mr. Wind...

I would like to talk to you about our friendship. I am sad to say that I must end any friendship that we have had. I have tried to cooperate with you and ride so that you don't blow me over. I have also tried to avoid the days when you are not feeling well or just being plain angry. However, when I hear that you are in a great mood and I go out and you decide to get mad for no reason...well, I can't be friends with someone that does that to me. You almost killed me today by pushing me around so much. I had to ride sideways on the road and everytime you didn't think that the you were pushing me enough...you pushed me even more and I almost flew off the road. I think today your goal was to get me as far from my house as possible before you started being a bully (Yes, I was near Loveland before you decided to be soooo rude!). With that being said...I am hoping that you will leave me alone and hopefully you will decide to move away for awhile...maybe forever!
Sincerely,
Shamuu (aka Keirsten's bike).

Workouts Friday-Monday:

TS 3,000 yd
TB 40 min
MR 20 min
LR 78 min (7.5 miles outside)
LB 3hr 37min (67 miles)

I took advantage of the beautiful weather on Sunday night and went for my long run instead of doing it tomorrow (tues). It was my first full run outside and the temperature was awesome, with no wind.

However, today I went biking. It began with nice weather and turned into horrible weather. On my return the wind was blowing so much I really thought I would have to call and get a ride home. The wind at one point when I stopped lifted my bike off the ground...yes it was that windy. My LB for the week was suppose to be 4 hour and 45 min but I couldn't imagine being outside any longer...ugh.

My legs do feel a bit tired today after my biking. I had a hard time getting my heart rate up while I was out besides during the hurricane winds (48 mph wind with 62mph gusts). It was my first LRide after doing a Lrun...so I am assuming that is why my hr and my legs were a bit tired. I am looking forward to getting a massage tomorrow :)

Weds workouts:
ER 30 min (outside)
LS 3,500 (75min)
Weights

Thurs workouts
MR 70 min (10-60)
TB 55 min trainer.

Nothing really exciting lately, just doing workouts etc. Oh, I fell of my bike on my trainer the other day, that was funny! It wasn't put in the trainer correctly and I fell, so I got a nice huge bruise on my knee. It was only funny because no damage was done to my bike.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Today's workouts:
1hr 40 min LR (20-60-20)
45 min bike EB

Today was good. I started with 20 min ellip than 60 min or running and finished with 20 min ellip again. I could "feel" my leg but not severe. Came home and ate than napped for a bit before finishing the workouts on the trainer biking.

Nothing exciting today but I am reading a good book right now called keeping faith. It is about a girl that experiences stigmata...it's not a true story but it is really good so far.

Nice :)

Today's workout:
4 hour bike LB (74.5miles) avg hr 151

Very nice out today. Went out biking on frontage road past Johnstown and the Johnsons corner restaurant. Was averaging over 20mph on my way out and had to slow on my return because my hr was higher. Not exactly sure what caused the increase but it could be more hills on return, a bit more wind..needed more calories or need to get in better shape..??
Today I brought limeaide with me on the bike...it was soo good while I was out. It is really strong when you are drinking water a lot and then you have a sip of it...yum :)
I think if I actually worked I would have had to take today off since it was one of the first real nice biking days of the season!

After that I had pt..I literally got home ate, showered and went to pt. I got there and was informed that I was going to do leg exercises before the massage and ionto..made me laugh a bit since I just had a long bike and didn't think it would work out so well to do leg exercises at that point. Then I had lessons and more food. Now time for bed!

Weekend workouts:
40 min (MR)
51 min (MB)
Yoga

Nothing too extreme this weekend...just a few short workouts. Weekends are when I "work" so I do most of my stuff during the week.

Ran a total of 17.2 miles this week. Which is a huge increase from last weeks 7.75 miles of real running last week. Continuing with anti-inflams and some pt and we will see if I can get up to some decent amount of distance.
Weather is looking good for Monday's Long Bike..so let's hope it stays that way!!

Today's workouts:
Weights
TR (10-32) 42 min.

My training has been going well. I know it is just the beginning and the distances and times that I am covering are still around the half times. I'm assuming the times will be going up quite a bit since the race is twice the distance. My body must be adjusting to the times that have been putting in and now is looking for a bit more?? I was going to add a ride today but I'm going to go watch a softball game and then a movie so probably not.

Random...I could make my own Discover card commercial:
Bike $6,000
Bike computer $180
Bike shoes $100
Bike socks $10
Helmet $50
Jersey $75
Shorts $85
Watch $350
Ipod $200
Road Id $20

Training for an Ironman....EXPENSIVE!

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Today's workout:
LS 3,500 yds (74 min)
MR 30 min

I got up and went to pt today. They did cross friction massage and massaged the bone. Then they did iontophoresis which puts medicine in via electric spikey shock stuff. That was it...hopefully it all works.

I went and swam some long sets today it mainly consisted of 5x600 and basically kick as the rest. Problem with 600's is figuring out how to count them so you don't go crazy. I started with counting by 2 sets of 12's (24 laps my way of counting). Then I went to one set of 12 and two sets of 6. Then I went to 4 sets of 6...then two sets of 6 followed by three sets of 4 and lastly 6 sets of 4. The last one I counted down from 24. Yeah I was bored!

I ran for 30 min after swimming and my hr was high today. I was only running at 5.3 speed and my heart rate average was probably close to 151...which was really high and I was kind of feeling it.

Nothing else besides I saw a bike jersey I want but of course it is $75 and I need some black bike shorts and of course those are expensive as well.
If anyone would like to donate to my training fund that would be great :)
