Garth Brooks!!

Saturday we had an amazing opportunity. The Pecks had tickets for a fundraiser for Denver Health and part of the fundraiser was a private concert with Garth Brooks. For those of you that do not know, I LOVE Garth Brooks and I was quite sad when they told me the week before that their family would be going :( I was sad because I WANTED TO GO!! On Thursday I got a call from them saying, "do you know what we are doing on Saturday". I told them that it was rude to rub it in since I would LOVE to go. Then they said, we knew you would so we got TWO tickets for you and Pedro!!!!! I was sooo excited. He is my dream concert!

So on Saturday, we had games in the morning with a wake up call for me at 640am (which is about 4 hours earlier than my usual) I had a long day ahead. Pedro and I went to games in the morning, breakfast after, a movie, another game and then home to change for our concert!

The concert was at the same place they do the stock show. On the floor of the stock show they had tables for the big donors to have dinner. Kirk and Melissa were doing the dinner part. Pedro, Meg, Bren, Jac and I all came just for the show. There was about 1500 people there. His concert started at 10pm, but we had to be there at 830. So, at this time I had already been up longer than I am usually up on any given day..lol.

All I have to say is AMAZING! His voice is EXACTLY like it sounds on records. The only downside was that he did talk quite a bit, but he was funny. He played until about midnight. All I know is that I would pay whatever to go and see him perform a regular live concert!

We had to dress up for the concert. Here are some pictures of us:

While taking this picture someone asked if we were Pedro's harem!!! LOL NOT SO MUCH!

Puerto Rico...

We had a short but fun trip to Puerto Rico this weekend for Pedro's cousin's wedding.

We arrived on Thursday afternoon and spent the day walking around Old San Juan. Then drove the hour and half to the town of San Sebastian where Pedro's extended family lives.

We stayed at his grandmas house. The house had no air conditioning, which made it quite hot during the day. But at night we slept with just a bed sheet and two fans going...but it did get kind of cool at night (or we got use to it). The shower also did not have hot water, instead it was cool. But since it was so hot it wasn't too bad.

Friday, we went to the beach where we rented kayaks for a while and then sat on the beach. Pedro got sunburned and I did not. Mainly because I believe in sunscreen and he thought he would not get burned. I tried to remind him that he hadn't been in the sun since last summer, but he didn't listen and he was burned. We left when a rain shower was approaching. We went out to dinner with his dad that night.

Saturday, was a LONG day. It started with the girls, Pedro's mom, sister, and brother's girlfriend and I getting our hair done. While Pedro helped his cousins bring the final stuff to the reception area. After that Pedro and I went to have my FAVORITE ice cream for the third time (lol) and a sandwich. Which I am glad we ate so close to the wedding time because they didn't serve the food until almost 800!

The wedding started at 200 and after the ceremony we went to the reception. They had this AMAZING band...they were great entertainers. They would be singing and you wouldn't realize half the group was gone and they would come in the door with a different outfit on and singing a different type of song...like one time they came in with mariachi clothes and sombreros on and started singing mexican style songs. It was a long night, we didn't get out until about 1100pm. But it was fun.

Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Here is a picture of the beach we were at "Crash Boat"

Easter 2010

This Easter Pedro had to work. So I woke up and headed to the 9am church service. I arrived just in the nick of time, as usual. After singing some of my favorite songs at church (lol), we had the small breakfast at the church. My grandma likes to support the church, so we do breakfast there and then head to brunch. A lot of food?! YES! However, I think my grandma out eats us all, and I am really being serious. She ate breakfast before church, breakfast at church (pancakes, eggs with ham, muffin, fruit and coffee), then brunch at the country club. She had a plate FULL of food there too!

After all the food, I came home read my book out in the sun, and I am about to bike inside and watch some of the women's ncaa games.

Here are some pictures from the day...

Grey's Baptism

This weekend we were pretty bored. Since we were bored we decided to paint our computer room aka my nap room. We painted it brown and light blue. It looks pretty great!

On Sunday we had Grey's baptism. We started off the morning with the 1030 church service, where they sang some "different" songs. It is very hard to sing "rock" christian songs without knowing the music or tune. After the service we had Grey's baptism. He was a good boy and didn't cry, though he was so hot that the water probably felt good!

After church we went to Brunch at Simms Steakhouse. It was a nice day and a good brunch. I think grandma ate more than all of us though, except maybe Pedro and Craig! They ate enough for multiple people.

Here are some pictures of Brunch:

Massage...

Today I decided I wanted to get a massage. I ran 14 miles yesterday and 9 the day before. It wasn't bad, but I thought a nice massage sounded like a good plan.

The problem is that I get massages from a "general massage" place. Meaning, I am not paying a high price for my massage and they do not deal with athletes very frequently. The problem with this is that I have to tell them to focus on my legs. I know my back has gigantic knots, but it is my legs that do most of the work. Today's massage therapist was a male. I have no preference to have a male or female therapist. However, today's therapist seemed to be too worried.

He worked on my back then started on my legs. I had told him I have some really bad achilles pain, only on a specific part of my achilles but I want my soleus worked on along with whole LEG. He started off by asking if I needed glute work. My glutes seem to be one of my big (no pun intended) problem areas. When I run long, or race it is my butt that hurts! Right at the hamstring attachment. So, of course I said I would like glute work. He did a little work over the blanket. When I go to some good massage places I get very good butt massages...I know you think this is gross, or weird, but go run and bike and then tell me how good it feels! Anyway, after a sub-par butt massage he started my legs. He did an ok job, but had the blanket stopped about 2.5 inches above my knee. This meant he only worked 2 inches of my hamstring and missed about 6 inches. UGH! When I flipped over this continued. Blanket about two inches above my knee...so very little quad work. I wanted to tell him that when a person gets a massage they dress down to what they are comfortable in...and if he is uncomfortable working on a quad or hamstring, maybe he shouldn't massage people. IF I didn't want him to massage my quad or hamstring for more than two inches, I probably wouldn't be going to get massages, because obviously I would not be comfortable with someone touching me. UGH.

Anyway, note to self, at "general massage" places, ask for a female, maybe they will be less worried?!

Running has been going well. Maybe it is because I am focusing on running with supplemental biking. My long bike right now is 3hours and my long run is 2hrs and 5min. This week I ran 14 miles for the 2hr 5 min run. The day before I ran 9 miles for 1hr 15min run. I seem to be getting faster! I was out for a leisure jog and then picked up the pace a little, where I wasn't too tired, and ran an 8:17pace for the 9.04 miles, and I was thinking it was an easy "ish" run.

I was trying to get my running in early this week since it was so nice, 70 degrees yesterday! I have even gotten a little sun, with hopes of not BURNING like I did last time I was in Puerto Rico. Today it has snowed at least 7 inches of heavy spring snow, with more to come. That is ok, since I have a 90min stairmaster planned for tomorrow!

Nothing too exciting here. Our dance lessons have been going well, we are hoping to get a little more "smooth" and less mechanical. It is funny how dancing is very similar to me teaching people basketball skills and moves. I can tell a big difference in kids that are mechanical and not smooth. In dancing I can feel the difference between being mechanical and smooth, hopefully I will get more smooth!

Pedro had a good time last week he went to WWE with one of his friends. He has been very busy working this week.

Thats it for now! We have Grey's baptism this weekend so we should have some pictures to post then :)

Happy 30th Birthday!!

Yesterday was my 30th birthday. We started off the day, after sleeping in, with breakfast at Egg and I, one of my favorite spots! Then we had to go pick up my engagement ring from shaneco because the horseshoe they had put into it had broken earlier in the week. While at shaneco, Pedro decided to buy me sapphire earrings!! They are very pretty and will match my wedding ensemble too!

After the purchase we had a few other errands to run (including the gym) before we went to dinner. We had dinner with Kurt, Dena and their family, Kory and my parents. We went to Mongolian bbq downtown. My mom got me a two different sized crockpots, since the one I currently have will actually burn the food and even boil it on warm! Dena got me storage containers that we need for food.

My second family (the Malcolm-Pecks) informed me that my bday present is a trip with M/B/J and Melissa to a ayurvedic spa in California in May. We will be going for about a week, where we have yoga, meditation, ayurvedic treatments and food. It sounds like a nice relaxing trip before heading off for summer basketball and the wedding!

Besides my bday the other exciting thing is that I picked up my wedding dress. It is very beautiful and may even be better than I expected. It fit perfectly, other than it may need to be shortened just a bit.

Here are a few pictures from my birthday dinner!

Here we are again after eating A LOT!

Where Have I Been??

Sadly, all this time without a post has been mainly because nothing exciting has been going on here! Training was slow because of the wedding this year we cannot afford to have me traveling to different race venues and entry fees. However, as of two weeks ago I have decided that I will be doing the Colfax Marathon. I needed something to actually train for so I can have a plan for a workout each day. I am not a free for all type of person, I end up doing either too much or wanting to do more. The goal is to do the marathon in mid May. However, with our horrible weather pattern I have not signed up yet. I do not want to do all of my run time on a treadmill. The weather people think with the way things have been going we may have a very snowy March. In mid April I will start training for my half ironman in August (the week before our wedding).

Other interesting things have included Marc's (my cousin) new engagement to his girlfriend of one month, his wedding very quickly approaching May 1st and his other piece of info that goes along with that.

We have also just started SALSA dance lessons. Yes, I know as M and B said this is something that should be on video since it is such an amazing event! lol. We are taking private lessons, we have had two thirty minute lessons so far. We also took a group lesson tonight. Surprisingly to all, I am actually pretty ok! It is a combo of Pedro learning the "real" (he likes to improvise) and me learning anew. It is probably easier for me than for him since I am starting from zero (or negative) and he has an idea of what he wants to do.

Funny how different people learn because I am learning to dance based on counting. Pedro wants to listen to the music. I think once I know more the music will be helpful, but the counting has helped me and is helping Pedro learn to dance with someone else (he likes to brag he learned to dance with a broom...should he be proud of that? haha). We have had some hilarious moments learning to do turns because I do it based on count and he wanted to do it on feel, which was never when we were suppose to on count. Long story short, my counting is winning out because without the counts of when to do things I was being spun on the wrong foot at the wrong time and ending up going the wrong direction. Another great one is Pedro had to do a turn tonight and couldn't get the footing down and was spinning more like a ballerina!

We are definitely not serious in the class and we had a different instructor today for our lesson and he was quite serious. Not sure he liked our hysterical laughing! He also didn't want to touch me...no seriously he was very weird about having to touch me to show me what to do, he wanted to stand next to me. I had to grab his hand and say show me because I can feel the difference of what is right and wrong, much easier than having someone tell me.

It has been fun!

That's the news for now :)
