My best friend!

Zuri is getting to be such a big girl!  Yesterday she rolled over from her stomach to her back.  Albeit only once, but it did happen!

She just LOVES Polar.  Polar loves to lick her in the face, though that is not my favorite thing for them to do.

She will sit next to him and just pet him (scratch him, poke him in the eye, jab him in the ear...you get the point).

A few more pix

Excitement around here has been low.  A lot of the same as usual stuff.  There was a garfield comic today that made me laugh: Every Day is Just like every other day, My life has been one long day, you waste a lot of money on calendars.

Here are a few pictures of Zuri.
Our first regularly seated, stroller run.

A few pictures...

Yesterday Zuri was a little piggy.  I have been counting how many ounces she has been drinking and she drank 39oz!  That includes about 1.5 tbs of oatmeal.  She does NOT like oatmeal or rice cereal.  She turns her head and throws a fit.  But who would want to eat plain oatmeal or rice cereal? Not me.

Today we started some sweet potatoes.  She seemed to LOVE them.  That may change tomorrow, but as of today, sweet potatoes are her new favorite!
What you don't see in this picture is that her hand is grabbing my hand to bring the bowl back down.

Here she is at Nana's on Sunday.  Nana watched her because I had games in the morning and Pedro was at work.  She was a very good baby.  She ate well and took some good naps (unlike today both were lacking).  This is what a full, rested baby looks like.
She sat in her car seat for a good amount of time, just having a good time.
And then she enjoyed sitting in the high chair, playing with some measuring spoons.  The sippy cup is because we are teaching her to use it.

That's it for now!  She has another plane flight in about 12 days.  For another tournament.  Not looking forward to the tourney (with three teams), ugh.

Long day...

Today was an exceptionally long day.  Zuri decided to start our day at 6am.  Yes, 6am.  Followed by a nap from 8-945.  Then I got her ready for the day and we went for a run on the south platte trail.  It took quite some time for me to get her ready, including trying to get her to eat.  So, by the time we got there it had been an 1.5 hours of awake time.  Which meant that she slept the entire run (not long only 45 minutes).  I don't usually want her napping during a run, if she is suppose to have a nap time soon.  After the run we sat by the lake and watched some people fish and enjoyed the afternoon.  Then she had a little snack and we went home.

Not one of our cutest pictures!

When we got home it was time for her next nap.  She did her usual 45 min nap and then woke up.  I got her back asleep, only for her to wake up a few minutes later.  This time I let her cry, while I was getting ready to surprise Pedro in Fort Morgan.  She quickly fell asleep again and I finished getting ready.  I had to wake her up (which she does not enjoy) and get her dressed for Pedro's award ceremony.  I didn't want Pedro to know we were coming so I blocked the camera in her room, in case he was watching and would see me in normal clothes!

We then drove to Fort Morgan and made it just before the meeting started!  Pedro was VERY surprised to see us!

He was given a letter of commendation from the Chief of Police for a case where he chased and caught some burglars that had stolen goods from a school.  One of the things mentioned was his outstanding teamwork.  Of course that is something we both love!

Now we are home and I bathed her and got her into her pajamas and Pedro is feeding her a bottle for bed.

Hopefully, she will sleep a little later tomorrow!  Or I might just have to make Pedro get up with her!

Zuri's First 5k!

Yesterday was Zurianna's first 5k.  Pedro had decided he wanted to do a 5k for the Police Memorial.  So, we headed out on a cold morning (thankfully not raining), and went for a run.  She enjoyed the festivities to start and didn't want to stay in her car seat.  So, I carried her around so she could see everyone and everything.

Then the race was about to start so I put her in her stroller, where she began to scream!  I knew that would be short lived as she does that sometimes when we go for our run.  We started in the back because we had a stroller and most people (only about 80 runners) looked like they would be running and not walking.  That was my biggest mistake.  We should have started near the front, although I am sure most runners wouldn't want a stroller up there.  But we had to work our way through all of the runners on a small path. That seemed to take forever!  I even accidentally bumped a runner with the stroller.  Luckily, Zuri was still screaming so I said that I was trying to get moving so she would be happy.  Which of course, after I got moving she was.

Pedro and I ran together through the crowd and then up this ginormous hill!  Pedro, in his usual method of racing, started out super fast.  He took the stroller and was actually just a bit ahead of me going up part of the hill.  I then passed him and took this picture!

He told me to go ahead and go, as he was out of breath!  I told him I could take the stroller, but he decided that he would.  So, I ran ahead.

It was the HILLIEST 5k I have EVER run.  I swear it was nearly ALL uphill!  And I would also swear that it was longer than a 5k.  Other runners were saying the same thing.  I had forgotten my watch for the race because, when traveling with a child, her needs superseded mine so I forgot it.  Which I would have really liked to have had it to know how far we were at points in the race, as nothing was marked.

Our times were not stellar.  However, the sad fact was that I was still the 2nd female (I think top 5 overall) in the race, I had lost by 20 seconds and my time was not good.  Pedro was the 23rd male.

Anyway, she napped her way through the run and enjoyed it!  After the race we waited for a raffle.  We won 2 free appetizers to PF Changs and a Free Dinner for two and appetizer at LoneStar, all in all not a bad day.

Another day...

On her 4 month birthday, May 8th, last year on that day, we found out we were pregnant!  I could have tested a few days earlier, but I figured I would wait until Mother's Day to test.  And even at that rate, it was a faint positive.  We were pretty sure we were pregnant, but since it was so faint, we had a little doubt.  But obviously, we WERE pregnant!

And this year, we have a little baby with a BIG personality!

Today at the zoo, with Linzy and Chyler..

I'm getting so big that I can sit without any support in my stroller!

I had to buy breathable bumpers to keep her safe...since she likes to sleep RIGHT AGAINST the bumper!

4 MONTHS!

Zuri is now 4 months old (although, I still contend that she was 4 months last Sunday since she would have been 16 weeeks).

She is a growing girl.  Growing more up, than out!

Her stats today were:
13lbs 37th percentile
25.5 inches long, 91st pecentile
16 inches head circumference 42%.

At 2 months she was:
10lbs 10oz (41st %)
23.25 inches long (83%)
15 inches head circumference (34%)

At 2 weeks:
7lbs 6oz (46%)
21.25 inches long (96%)
13.25 inches head circumference (25%)

She is growing well along her curve.  We figure with all the crying she does, it probably boosts her metabolism!  Then she gets lots of baby massages from me, so she probably is growing more!

We will no longer discuss sleeping issues, because they are so up and down that once I start counting my z'z'z'z's...she laughs at me and we start all over again (ie. no morning nap today at all).
