13 Months...

Zuri's 13 month post was delayed because she is officially down to one nap.  With one nap, that means I have one time a day to do emails and other work related stuff.  Plus I like to sit down and watch tv for a bit (and nap!) because Zuri has been super needy lately and won't let me watch tv without her crawling all over me.

The only change this month from month 12, is the official move to the one nap.  She seems to like the one nap, but can be a bit fussy in the morning.  Sometimes I will take Zuri upstairs and have her sit and drink her milk and just "relax" for a bit with me, if she is in a super grumpy mood.  Just the quiet time seems to make her happy and ready to start our day.

Here is our typical day at 13 months:

7:00am Zuri is talking in her room.  I am not ready to get out of bed!
7:15am Zuri is getting a bit impatient, I reluctantly give in and get her up...she is usually jumping in her bed.
7:15-8:00am She will play in her room, some days when I leave her room she screams and doesn't want me to leave, which means I watch tv and she plays.
8:00ish.  Zuri has breakfast.  This usually consists of a bread (pancake, waffle, french toast) a fruit and her milk.
8:00-9:30am Zuri plays (hopefully not hanging on me the whole time!)
9:30am I eat breakfast, which means Zuri eats my breakfast too.
10:00am Drinks most of her milk that she should be drinking
10:45am-12:30pm GYM TIME.  We both enjoy this part of our day!
12:30pm Pouch at the gym
12:45pm Lunch, she doesn't usually eat too much.
1:15pm-4:15pm NAP! (hopefully for the full 3 hours..)
4:15pm-6:00pm Playtime or running errands.
6:00pm Dinner
7:00pm Bath
7:30-8:00pm Books and milk, followed by brushing her two teeth, then bed time!

We have gone and done a few fun things, we went to the Children's museum, which she LOVED!

Baby playtime at the library, which she LOVED (and we will be trying to do this weekly)!  She just left me and went off and played with other kids and even other moms.

Butterfly pavilion, which was only just ok.  She liked the butterflies, but when things are not moving she doesn't seem to realize what she is suppose to be looking at.

Gym daycare (after I get over that mom just left me)

Opening and taking everything out of the cupboards, then putting her toys in the cupboards

Dislikes:
Being home all day
Not being where Mommy is
Foods that she doesn't feel like eating at that moment
Dogs stepping on her
Getting stuck with my walker

Zuri has definitely been going through some sort of stage that she wants to be attached to me every minute of the day.  And she wants to hang on to my pants if I walk away.  She could walk and we have seen her take 5 steps once, but she refuses to walk.  We bought some squeaker shoes to encourage walking, which she likes, but still doesn't walk!

Size:
Height: I think she has gotten taller this month, just seems like it when she is standing at the cupboards or by the dresser she seems taller.
Weight:  About 22lbs 10oz (based on gym weight of 23lbs 4oz)
Clothing:  Wears a wide range of things...from 12 months-2t.  Some are a bit short and some are a bit long.  She is probably a solid 18-24 months depending on brand.  Some clothes the 2t is the same length as the 18 or 24 month stuff.
Skills:  Stacking, throwing, moving things with some thought process
Words:  Dog, Star, Dada, Duck and maybe "Stop" when the dogs are barking.  However, she is making more sounds and her talking sounds more and more like it is words.

What have we been doing?

I have been in the process of working on Zuri going down to one nap.  I am very sad because I LOVE the two naps a day.  It would be fine, if the one nap was one long nap, but we have had successful days and not successful days.  Not successful means that she doesn't sleep long enough and wakes in a bad mood and then it is difficult dealing with her until bed, which is earlier because she is tired.  But then she will wake up even earlier.  I am just not sure she is ready for one nap yet, but she doesn't want two either!

Pedro had his back surgery and everything went well.  However, he can't bend down and can't lift anything over about 5lbs, so he can't help much with Zuri.  So, if she needs to be fed, laid down for a nap or waking from a nap, I have to be home.

Pedro Pre-Surgery

Pedro at home after surgery, out cold, he literally remembers very little of the day!

We also took Zuri to the stock show.  She loved it.  She was going crazy with the horses, clapping and screaming at them.  She even got to pet a few of them and one horse she tried to kiss (the owner was holding the horse).  Then we took her into the petting zoo and she didn't want to leave.  We know she loves animals since she loves the dogs more than anything or anyone in the house.  When we are driving home from being out and she is being grumpy I tell her we are going to see the dogs and that is the only thing that cheers her up!

Zuri has been working on a few skills like throwing a ball and rolling a ball.  She carries a ball around with her a lot and loves going to my basketball games because she can play with a basketball.  She now also says "stop" when the dogs are barking.  She now waves "bye bye" and loves to do it when I am taking her up for her bath and she will crawl up the stairs, stop and look at Pedro and wave and then continues up the stairs, laughing.

Zuri likes to take the drum and put it over her face and then put her hand or my face on the other side, here she is holding a bath letter on the outside of the drum and slapping her hand on it.  This is a favorite after bath activity.

Zuri really makes me laugh though because she walks with her walker, actually she pulls her walker behind her and carries a bus in the other hand.  It is hilarious.  Today she was hanging on me in the kitchen while I was cooking and I told her to go get her horse and she literally went and got her horse and walked it from the living room into the kitchen with me.

Our big event of the week was that Zuri took 5 steps on Friday.  She was standing for a good amount of time and then took 5 steps.  She doesn't really seem interested in walking on her own, besides that time though, so who knows when she will really start walking.  Here she is just standing.
