28 Weeks and the 3rd Trimester with #2!

The 3rd trimester!!  Even with being crazy busy getting the house ready to put on the market, a fussy toddler, a sick husband, lots of basketball have probably made these last few weeks go quickly (and sometimes super slow).  It is getting so close, although hopefully not too close!

I have been feeling fine.  Pretty normal except the ginormous belly.  The baby gets stuck around my ribs sometimes and I can put my hand there and push her down out of my ribs and she usually goes some other place.  Although I think she is probably pretty low most of the time.  The biggest issue this last week has been that my heartburn has been back.  It isn't too bad during the day it likes to come when I lay down in bed at night.  I wake up in the middle of the night with terrible heartburn.  Nothing helps too much, but I have found laying on my right side seems to make it a bit better.

I had my doctors appointment this week and I continue to measure about a week ahead.  It was a very quick appointment.

I think I am looking quite large!  I find that even some of my maternity shirts are a little short.  Thank goodness for the long ones.  I need to post a comparison picture with Zuri's pregnancy but I need to take a belly picture to compare.

My legs/feet get a little tired after standing so much all day.  Probably because I go workout, come home feed Zuri, clean up the house, go to the park with Zuri (if we have showings), go do lessons, make dinner and then go to practice until 9:30pm.  Pretty long days lately.  I love when I get to take a nap in the afternoon!  However we have a great fun trip coming very soon!!  Very much looking forward to relaxing on the beach (even though I look like a white whale that may reflect the sun!)!

My pregnancy apps keep telling me I should be getting ready for the baby by getting things ready.  Sadly, we can't do any of this because we are hoping to be moving before we have the baby!

Week 28 info:  3rd Trimester!
Days pregnant: 200!
Days till due date:  80!
Weight gain: 29lbs
Baby size: about 15 inches and 2.25 lbs (chinese cabbage?!)
Baby development: Brain has developed more tissue and grooves.  Baby has a more regular sleep schedule in 20 to 30 minute intervals.

25 Months (almost 26!) Zuri

Zuri has made a lot of progress in language skills the past month.  It has been quite fun and it makes life a lot easier for both of us because she can communicate what she wants.  Which doesn't mean she always GETS what she wants, but at least I can understand more now.

Some of my favorite words that Zuri can now say are:  Monster, Milk, Pretzel, Dip, Pizza, Tractor, Police Car, Penguin, Bunny, Park and Sucker.  Now some of these nobody else can probably understand but me, but I can now figure out what she is saying.  A funny one is that she likes to say "Upa" for up, and "Upa, Upa, Dow" for Down.  Most of the time she still says "up" instead of down.   I also love when she rides her small pink horse and yells "yee-haw!"  She still calls Minnie "B" and her black horse "doggy" but she calls Pluto "Pluto" and her other dogs "doggy".  So it can be confusing when she wants her horse or her dog.   She likes to tell me what type of ball she has either a "basketball" or a "beach ball", both fall into the category of me understanding her but others might struggle to know what she is saying.

She likes to tell me to sit in the chair by her while she eats.  So, we eat most of our meals together.  When I try to give her her own bowl of something like oatmeal she insists that she eats my bowl with me feeding her, instead of any of her bowl.  When we drive by the park she yells about wanting to go there.  And when we go by the bank she yells about wanting a sucker from there.

Zuri has had some good days this past month and some bad days.  The good days are so much fun and the bad days are quite exhausting.  Maybe that is because I imagine those days while having an infant in the house too!  The gym daycare people tell me how fun and care free she is while she is there, so that is nice to hear.  She doesn't usually want to leave when I go to pick her up.  But now that we bring Stella I can tell her we have to go get Stella and she will want to leave so we can go say "HI STELLA!!" when we get to the car.

She loves reading and usually wants to eat an apple while we are reading with her milk.  I love how she anticipates and/or knows what she wants to read or what is going to happen in each book.

She wanted everything while she was reading....

She loves going to Nana and Papa's house, mainly to spend time playing with Papa and his ipad.  She also likes to wear Nana's glasses.  She even has the eye "scratch" down.

She has been very decisive about what she wants to eat.  She will open the freezer and tell me "toast" which means she wants a waffle.  She likes to take the waffle and put it in the toaster, push down the lever and then she pushes it back and tells me "hot!"  Zuri is also on a kick for anything with "dip".  So most food items are accompanied with a dip.  Apples have been a new favorite, but she definitely prefers having a whole apple instead of the slices.  She also goes to the pantry and takes out macaroni and cheese and tells me "cheese, cheese", of course this is usually at breakfast time and I have to tell her to wait for lunch or dinner.

All in all with our busy month Zuri has done really well.  She has had fun, hasn't been too cranky when she doesn't get to lay down because of showings (even when she is actually tired) and has gotten another two year molar (her second) come in.

We should have a fun month of March with a trip to the beach!

R.I.P Polar

Today was a terrible day.  Polar has been having a lot of issues with his back legs.  His left back leg has been almost useless and he frequently ends up with his paw upside down.  The past month or two he has been pooping on the floor.  I am not sure if it is because he couldn't control it or because it was too hard to go outside.  I think it was a combination of both.  When there was snow outside he couldn't even stand in the snow and would fall down.  He couldn't walk on the tile floor and had to stay only on the carpet or rugs we laid down for him.  Then he started pooping and falling down in it because he couldn't hold himself up.  It was sad for both of us, he didn't like having to be cleaned up and I felt really bad for him.  Then he started peeing on the floor.  Again, I am not sure why, but likely because he couldn't control it.

Today I called the vet to schedule an appointment to have him looked at to see what they thought and if it was actually time to put him down.  Of course they had one available appointment today.  I was thinking that it would be scheduling a couple of days from now.  But I have been trying to ready myself for this for weeks.  I decided we should take the appointment because it would be like "ripping the bandaid off."  I asked Pedro and he said, well maybe we should wait until next week.  I said if we wait until next week, I will tell us to wait until the next week.  It's not something I wanted to do, but I guess inside I was hoping they would have a magical cure, or at least we would know.

Pedro had no sympathy during this process.  I was crying before we even left the house.  Pedro's advice to me was "don't think about it."  Right right.  The appointment was made and we had an hour before the appointment.  We got in the car and headed to the vet.

At the appointment the vet saw him and said that his legs were really bad. That there really wasn't much hope for him and it was probably hard for him to be falling in his poop and unable to control himself.   He said that most boxers only live about 9 years and not many make it to 10 and 11 years.  Both Stella and Polar are about 9 years old. This still doesn't make me feel better.  He said that he probably wasn't in pain because the nerves seemed to not be working in the back.  But that if we wanted to prolong it the only option was high doses of vitamin B, which might help the nerves that are still working.   I knew it was time but I was sobbing.  I told him that I guess it was time to put him down.

I stayed with Polar while they gave him his sedative to calm him down and help him relax.  I gave him some of his favorite treats and pet him.  Pedro and Zuri left and went to the park across the street.  Pedro did look quite sad upon leaving and gave Polar a big kiss before he left.  Zuri gave Polar a nice pet and a kiss before she left.

I sat with him and talked to him while he calmed down and laid down.  Then the vet came back in and gave him his "overdose of anesthesia."  It was very calm, but still very traumatic to me.  I have had Polar for about 8.5 years and he has been a big part of our lives.  He was such a sweet dog and I loved him very much and I will miss him!

Stella and Polar LOVE...

Love you Polar!

26 and 27 Weeks #2

26 and 27 weeks have gone by rather quickly!  I have been super busy with a lot of things these last two weeks.  Let's see where to start.  I have had a lot of basketball to take care of lessons, games, practices and emails.  Then we have decided to put our house on the market.  So this meant I had to spend a huge amount of time boxing things up, cleaning up and organizing.  Although I have already spent a lot of time doing these things, knowing the actual day we are putting the house on the market has given me a lot to do.  My grandma was in the hospital with pneumonia, but luckily she doesn't have much quit in her so she was back home before her 94th birthday!  Zuri has been quite the handful lately and has had her own stomach issue going on (I have no idea what has caused it..), but she acts fine other than I can't get much distance from her because she wants to be with me all the time.  Then we have had issues with Polar, which deserves it's own post.

But now to what has gone quickly, but not less important, I am now officially 27 weeks and 1 day pregnant!  Things have gone well these past two weeks.  I have still gotten some stomach--pain, pulling, weird feeling, not contractions, but after so much standing, working, long days my stomach muscles seems to be sore.  Weird.  I have no idea.  I have been pretty tired this week, but that is because of all that I have been doing and not having much time to just sit around.  I am really looking forward to our vacation that we are going on soon, so I can relax some. I have started to get the leg cramps at night, but so far I catch them before they actually cramp!  I had the exact same thing my first pregnancy, seems like a weird thing to get.  Heartburn has been bad a few days, but it was clearly because of my food choices (ie. mexican food or ice cream).

Workouts have been fine.  Some of the days my usual level on stairmaster has seemed a bit more difficult and other days it seems normal.

Here are my pictures from the last two weeks!

I actually think I look bigger in the first picture, but that is from week 26....

Baby info:
Days pregnant: 190!!
Days till due date: 90!
Baby development: Baby lungs are continuing to mature and practice breathing.
Baby size: 14.5 inches and 2lbs (cauliflower-however that doesn't seem like a good comparison!)

25 Weeks #2

Well again I am failing at weekly updates.  It's not because this pregnancy is any less interesting to me, but instead it is because I have a sleep deviant toddler now.  Yes, Zuri is on a roll of not wanting to sleep when she is supposed to be sleeping and then throwing massive tantrums when I lay her down.  On top of that she has seemed to push her bed time back a bit to around 8:00 or a bit later, which leaves little free time for me to sit at the computer.  I need to get back to a better time with her, even if it means massive tantrums because I am dealing with those anyway.

Back to 25 weeks.  This week I have had some back/hip/sciatic pain.  I think it is a combination of doing some treadmill running and not sitting down much at all this whole week.  I have been super busy trying to clean, organize and pack up our house so we can get it on the market in the next week or so.  So any free time I have, I seem to be spending it packing, painting or cleaning.  I have also had a weird muscle pain in my stomach, kind of like a charlie horse, burning feeling in a small part of my stomach.  It seems to be at the end of the day.  Not sure if it is some type of braxton hicks, or if it is my stomach muscles stretching (although this should have happened in the first pregnancy if it is that).  Anyway, nothing too bad or too serious, my low back/hip/sciatic pain is definitely the most annoying thing so far this pregnancy.  It makes it a lot of fun to carry a 30lb toddler!

I had my checkup last week and all looks good.  My glucose test was fine but my iron levels are nearing anemic, so they suggested eating more iron rich foods.  Could explain why I have been so tired lately..but again a lot of that has to do with a toddler that will ONLY have ME do everything right now.   Glad this is happening before our second child because otherwise I would have thought that had something to do with it!

This baby is very active.  It is a lot of fun when I lay down and she is kicking up a storm.  I love to push on my stomach and get violent pushes back, makes me laugh.

25 Week information:
Days till due date: 101 days!  (Oh my goodness, almost down to double digits, scary!)
Days pregnant: 179 days
Weight gained: About 26lbs (basically exact same as with Zuri)
Baby size: 13.5 inches (rutabaga if I knew what size that was?!) and 1.5lbs
