Warm weather has arrived!

Enjoying her strawberries!  The glasses didn't stay on long.

We have gone from cold weather to super hot weather.  I hate how we miss the nice spring weather.  But since it has been so nice out, Zuri and I have spent every afternoon doing this...

 She loves wearing my sunglasses.

She was actually waving at a kid that just arrived at the playground!

She loves going up to the park.  She especially loves when other kids are there, but she still has a lot of fun otherwise.

The slide is one of her favorite things.  She is so funny and goes down on her stomach-feet first.  She has advanced to the big slide and goes super fast!

There is a really windy slide that she has been scared to go down, but loves to go down it on my lap.  Then a few days ago she tried it herself!  This picture cracks me up because of her double chin and wind blown hair!  Of course the one slide that she should go down on her belly, she decides to do correctly!

She banged her head on the first curve but I was there to help her from flipping, because I knew that would happen!

Zuri is counting down the days for the pool to open (which it just did).  She runs to the pool area and screams!

A lot of her pictures she is drinking or eating.  She does spend inordinate amount of time eating and especially drinking...

Playing in the front with her shovel and bucket.

Weary about walking down the step in the playground.  She has gotten pretty good at doing it now!
Most of these pictures Zuri's hair is crazy, it is because it is after her nap that we go to the park and it is "nap time" hair!

Everything is in two's.  She wants to carry TWO basketballs, TWO stuffed animals, TWO toys..

I love her reorganized play area.  The toys downstairs are much more organized and I love the pictures I put up!

Reading two books at once and sitting in my chair..

Loving the keyboard..

Learning to play on the Ipad.  She likes to hit the button that makes the game close, then she gets annoyed that it closed.

She has been more into stuffed animals lately.  She did have two dogs on her lap, but one fell, so she was watching her video over her one dog.

My stubborn daughter has also decided that she will only wear crocs.  She can get them on by herself on a rare occasion.  She also has a preference for which crocs she wears.  The last few days she would only wear the black crocs.  She would literally throw a fit if I put on a different pair.  She would kick them off and go and get the shoes she wanted to wear.

Hoping to have a fun week together!

Happy Mother's Day!

It was my second Mother's Day (being a mother).  Sadly, I don't have any pictures from my first Mother's Day.  Probably because we were just coming out of sleep deprivation.  I don't even remember what we did...hmmm.

This year we went to brunch with my mom (nana) and papa and grandma topper.  It was just ok, but I ate a lot of omelets (they were small) and then followed it with ice cream (odd combination).

Earlier in the day helping me work in the yard..

Trying to keep her still for a picture!

Balloon addict...

The only way to get her to brush her teeth (not very well either!)

16 Months!

Zurianna is a whopping 16 months old!  I was trying to think of what to post for her 16 month birthday, but we haven't had any new major milestones since walking (14-15 months).  They say they usually work on mastering one thing before moving on to others.  She has definitely been mastering her running.  She loves when I tell her I am going to chase her and run after her.  It's not as much fun having her chase me, because she will start to chase me then will frequently stop and run back the other way so I can chase her!

She doesn't have any new words this month, but has been overusing the word "dat", as in "what's that????"  Over and over again.  She continues to point and say "dat, dat, dat, dat....." pretty much all day long.  I'm sure this will soon be replaced by "why, why, why....?" With equal annoyance!

I always say how impressive it is as they are starting to become little people.  Things that I never really noticed with my nephews and nieces.  For instance we were reading a book the other day and there was a picture of a small tractor in the background.  She of course asked me "dat??"  I told her it was a tractor.  We turned the page and she flipped back and said "dat??"pointing to the tractor.  So, I told her it's a tractor.  And she starts making her "vroom" noises and then drives a pretend car with her hand across her belly (where I always drive cars on her).    I have no idea how she knows what a tractor is, I assume maybe she could tell by the wheels...?  I don't know.  But it was pretty impressive.

Zuri has also had a massive "vision" improvement.  Meaning, she spots EVERYTHING and then wants it.  Literally, anything that is anywhere that can be seen, if it is something she wants, she will point and yell "dat.." until I actually figure out what in the world she wants.

Pointing at cars.."dat? dat?"

Her favorite thing to do is still play peek-a-boo, she thinks it is so funny.  She loves her cars and her little chair.  She loves reading and will read to herself, however she is very specific about which book she wants, so we spend a lot of "dat..." time on finding the right book.  Zuri really loves being outside and running around.  She is very social and wants to go and play with the neighbors kids all the time.  She waves at everyone, everywhere we go "hello" and "good bye."

Separation Anxiety...

Zuri has definitely entered a new stage, one that sounds cute, until it happens.  Doesn't it sound so cute that your daughter wants to spend time with you?  She wants to be with you over everyone else?  Sounds adorable.  In reality, it is just the opposite.  Let me say, I don't mind spending time with Zuri, I mean we spend pretty much every day, all day together.  But when this is the reaction I get when I leave the kitchen without picking her up, it is a bit much!

It started a few weeks ago when I brought her to the gym.  She LOVES the gym, she loves playing with all the kids and toys.  She is such a good girl.  But now she goes in and as soon as I am about to set her down, she holds on to me with a death grip and won't let go and starts crying.  I tell her I will be back, but nothing dramatic and hand her off to a worker there.  Of course she quickly recovers once I am gone, but she is definitely dramatic.  At home, if I have to go to the bathroom she will scream and cry until she can be in there with me and sometimes she wants to sit on my lap, because being in the room with me is too far away I guess.  If Pedro is home and I ask him to go bring her upstairs or distract her so I can go upstairs, she wants nothing to do with him.  She screams and screams for me.  I don't pick her up all the time, which then leads to her pulling down my pants and screaming and crying.  Let's hope this is short lived!  Here she is super happy to see me when I came back in!

One other culprit that could be making matters worse, is that she just got two upper teeth and it looks like a few more might be coming in soon.  I am sympathetic, but it is one reason I can't wait until she can talk to tell me if it is something bothering her, or if she is just being needy.  I gave her a frozen pancake to chew on to see if it would help...

We have had some crazy weather here, 80 degrees, followed by 30 degrees and snow.  Zuri loves the snow and claps and gets excited when it is snowing.

However, she equally loves the warm weather so that we can play outside a lot!  She LOVES playing outside.  And she loves the little chair I just got her, I took her in the store and let her choose the one she wanted (red or turquoise).  She won't look at me while I am trying to take her picture..

She spent a good amount of time moving the chair around and then standing on it.

I have also bought her a potty chair.  I know she doesn't know how to use one and I am not expecting her to...yet.  However, I got her one so she can get use to sitting on it.  She loves to sit on it!

And she was in a good mood at bedtime tonight, doing lots of "kissy face!"

Some random pictures, she really likes to carry around a bowl with her fruit in it, which she gets as a snack.

Loving the "boy" outfit...she looks rough, because most of this day was spent crying at me....
