A short update

What has been going on with us?  Well, Zuri has been super cranky.  Her tonsils were HUGE, so I took her to the doctor to rule out strep and of course, no strep, just tonsilitis (3rd time I believe).  On top of that her last molar that has been coming in looks really inflamed and painful.  So, she has been real fun!

Then Zuri decided that she NEEDS her stuffed animals for everything.  Shopping, driving, bath time (water logged animals, which has happened once will not be happening again), nap time and anything else you can think of wanting a friend with you.  Today, I decided to let her nap with her dog for the first time.  I have been worried about letting her do this, because she loves to talk in bed already and I figured this could lead to more "talk" time.  However, after a large misunderstanding on her part about not getting to sleep with her dog (enter tantrum), I returned with her dog and let her nap.  She immediately fell asleep.  I figure at some point she will be moving to a regular bed and in her room she will have books and stuffed animals and I have to trust that she will go to sleep, either that or I will have to take EVERYTHING out of her room.

Besides some cranky days, she has also spent nearly all of her time at gym daycare playing basketball, or carrying some ball around.  When you go into a store and there is a ball, terrible...she will say "ball, ball" over and over, she doesn't take no well.

Dora is still her favorite and she will sing "dora dora dora" and last night in her Dora book we were reading she would say "map" and "backpack".  Shoe is her other word she is using quite a bit lately.  But again, she doesn't really talk at all.

Alright a few pictures...
Here kitty, kitty...

20 Months Old!

Wow!  That is all I can say.  So weird that her second birthday is right around the corner, the busy holiday season seems to go fast, so these few months will probably fly right by us.

Zuri has started finding things funny on TV or Videos.  Before she would sit and just watch them, when she is stuck in her high chair or in her car seat, but now she has favorites and even things she thinks are hilarious.  Watching shows she will start laughing hysterically and I know she must think something is funny because she will laugh at the same things over and over.  Definitely a new trait.  She also loves Dora the Explorer.  Seriously LOVES her.  When we watch a video in the car or other times she will say "Dora".  My mom got her a Dora pajama top and we found Dora pajama's and she wants to wear them and will keep pointing at Dora and saying it over and over.  She also recognizes that things in books (Cat and the Hat or Clifford) are also on TV, she will be reading a book and see something and point to the TV, to tell me that it is on TV too.

She still doesn't use many words.  And things that she was saying constantly, like Stella, she doesn't really say anymore.  Her new word is "chips".  She goes to the pantry and says "chips" because that is what she would like to eat for every meal.

Animal sounds are really good now.  My favorite is the pig!  Instead of snorting "in" she snorts "out".  Right idea though!  Zuri also does monkey's, cats, dogs, elephant, duck, today she did a lion.  She knows all the animals and can point at them in books, she just won't say them.  She also loves trains and will say "choo choo" a lot, in one of our books she makes me go to the train page before we can read the rest of it, which leads me to my next point...

Zuri knows what is in books before we read them.  She will be snorting like a pig at a book and then I realize there is one page that has a pig on it.  Or the train, there are 15 other sounds in the book that we do, but she says "choo choo" and takes my hand to find the page.  She anticipates things too, like a page with a hippo, I sing all I want for Christmas is a Hippo and she sees the page and starts dancing, which leads me to my next point...

The girl LOVES to dance.  Dancing is so fun right now.  If music comes on she will dance and dance.

Zuri is also in love with her stuffed animals.  Earlier in the month it was Minnie Mouse.  Now it is her husky dog and a gorilla.  In the morning she gets up and goes downstairs to get her dog, then comes back up so I can get her dressed.  The dog has been going a lot of places and today the dog visited the zoo with us.

Love this picture!  She ran to the bowl after I put food in it so her dog could eat before Polar could!

The summer has been hot and we went to the pool as many times as we could.  Which wasn't many because I had to work in the mornings and the afternoon we didn't have time.  She now likes to jump off the side of the wall, however she won't jump, she takes a big step instead and is holding my hands.  I try to get her to jump or do it without holding my hands, but she hasn't been ready for that yet.

Her appetite has been way down, so I am assuming she hasn't grown as much lately.

Pedro's family visited for Pedro's birthday and we had a busy weekend a few weeks ago. Zuri loved having her abuela, tio and tia here!

(I will add some pictures from the visit, but my computer isn't showing them as an option to download!)

She's not super friendly with others if I am around-once I leave she is friendly to everyone!
Being told "no" by everyone other than her mom (weird, she will cry if someone else tells her)
There must be some more things, but I really can't think of any!

The Bronco season has just begun and I love her Bronco outfit!

Pedro had his graduation from the academy last Friday and Zuri didn't want to leave my side, so I'm sure she is in the pictures from his graduation that the police took, but we will have to wait for those.  This is what I have of Zuri!  She doesn't hold still long enough for most photos!

Laughing at the birds that are on the ceiling!

Just a random picture from the week...I asked her if she could see Dora?!  Just to get her to look at me!

Destroying her play area and climbing the dollhouse....But what is a play area for!?!
