15 Weeks Baby #2

I'm a little more than 15 weeks right now.  I'm actually not sure what date they are using as my due date, which is a little weird.  The first appointment the nurse told me May 17th, 2014.  My second appointment the nurse told me May 19th, 2014, then this last appointment they said May 17th again.  It probably won't matter, as these things only really matter if you have past the due date, since they will only give you a specific amount of days past due before inducing.  So, it means that either on Saturday I was 15 weeks or Monday.

The belly is looking about the same size as last week.  It is definitely bigger than week 13, so the size increase to week 14 was actually real, not just a bloated belly.  I still have some jeans that fit, but most t-shirts that I own no longer really fit.

I'm feeling fine, pretty normal.  My low back is still pretty tight but that is about it for now.  Workouts continue to go well, although I find that if I do a real hard workout I am in need of an afternoon nap (assuming Zuri takes her nap!)

Facts:
Days pregnant: 105
Days till due date: 175 (or 173!)
Baby size: 4.0 inches about the size of a navel orange
Baby weight: 2.5oz
My weight gain: Somewhere between 8-11lbs in the morning, more in the afternoon (seriously).
Baby fact: Baby is growing hair, babies skin is think and nearly translucent, baby might start sucking thumb.
Days till next doctors appointment and ultrasound: 28 days!

Zuri lately..

Zuri has been super needy lately.  Really kind of driving me crazy!  She wants "MOMMMMMMAAA!"  All the time.  She wants "up! up!"  The other day I took a shower and she stood outside the door calling for me and banging on the door for a good 10 minutes until I got out.

Since we got a video camera for her room now, I noticed she has been tossing and turning for a good portion of the early night.  I googled it and it came up that some people notice this when their toddler's 2 year molars are coming in.  So, today I looked and guess what, one of her top (right) molars is starting to peek through.  Could be the answer to her neediness and restlessness.  Hoping it passes quickly!

Zuri has also decided that she loves candy.  No surprise here.  But she will run to where her Halloween bucket is and make "mmm" noises.  Her way of telling me what she wants.  She get's so excited to get a piece.

We decided to buy her a basketball hoop that was on sale for super cheap.  We were going to wait until Christmas, but with her neediness, figured it might be a good distraction.  And so far, she loves it!

Today she had her follow up from her surgery.  They told us that her tonsils were a 3-4 on a scale of 4! And her adenoids were blocking 80% of her airway.  Definitely glad that we got those issues taken care of!  Still kind of annoying that our PCP never mentioned anything to me about any of it, glad I took her to a specialist.

That's it for now!  Going to try to convince Zuri to actually go to sleep, instead of playing in her crib right now, since it is suppose to be nap time!

14 Weeks Baby #2...

I am 14, almost 15 weeks.  I think this week I got a lot bigger than the week before, but could be the picture.  Or maybe next week I won't be as big!

I had my 14 week checkup this week.  Everything is looking good.  I measured at 15 weeks.  The babies heart rate was 160.  Could this mean it is a girl?  I still have no real feeling if it is a boy or a girl, unlike with Zuri, I knew she was a girl.  Zuri's heart rate at her 14 week appointment was 163.  I am actually weighing the same this pregnancy as last pregnancy, despite looking much bigger.  I asked the nurse if we could have another ultrasound picture, just for fun and she said she didn't have another patient after me for awhile so we could!  Yay!  The baby is so much bigger in 4 weeks!  We didn't do any measurements or anything, just a fun picture.  However, the baby is definitely camera shy.  We still haven't gotten a great picture, but this one is pretty good.  The legs are "frogged" up.  Space is looking pretty slim in there!

Compare to 4 weeks ago!

I am excited because we will get to do our next ultrasound (to find out the sex) on the 23rd of December.  That should be a fun Christmas present!

Workouts have been going well.  I have done 40 minutes of cardio and crossfit workouts each day.  I also got a massage this week.  During the massage I think I felt the baby move, probably because they were being squished because I am still doing "face down" massages, not the side lying ones, and they were working on my low back.  My low back has been tight, not sure if it is pregnancy related or workout related.  I have been doing a lot of different types of squats and other things that could make my low back tight.

Food related I haven't been as hungry as I was in the first trimester.  I don't have any cravings or anything fun.  This pregnancy I have been getting dull headaches.  Not fun.  I don't take medicine unless absolutely necessary so these are even less fun because of that.  They recommended some caffeine, since I don't drink much to try and help.  They said it pretty much comes with the territory.  It's funny because I was worried about headaches the first time I was pregnant and I didn't think about them this time..then all of the sudden I have gotten quite a few dull (all day long) headaches.  Hoping they go away as quickly as they came!

Fun Facts:
Baby Size: Lemon- 3.4inches 1.5oz
Days pregnant: 102 days
Days till due date: 178 days
Belly measuring: 15 weeks
Belly looking 25 weeks!  haha I'm kidding...?
Complaints:  Headaches

13 Weeks Baby #2

People say the second time around things fly by.  I thought the first time went pretty quickly (most of the time), I'm hoping it doesn't go by too quickly since pregnancy is much easier than the newborn months!

I am much bigger this time around.  Apparently that is normal, but hopefully it tapers off soon and I don't get any bigger than I did last time!  I know each person is different, but I am definitely a person that is on the bigger side during pregnancy.  Which is funny, since I actually workout everyday and I don't eat poorly, or eat any more than when I am not pregnant.  Not that I am worried about it, I am just curious what makes the difference.  I keep thinking I look HUGE and how can I possibly be bigger, than I remember how big my belly was with Zuri! The food belly in the afternoon and evening makes me even bigger.

On the left is with #2 and the right with Zuri.  I wish I was that tan now, instead I'm glowingly white!  Definitely a big difference!

My workouts have been going very well.  I have been doing high reps of weights or a crossfit of the day workout (some of these have been killer!).  Plus about 40 minutes of cardio-stairmaster.  I haven't noticed any big difference in my working out.

I haven't had any real food cravings or aversions this pregnancy.  Last pregnancy I didn't want dessert.  This pregnancy I don't mind it, but I don't run to the store to buy it either.  My extreme hunger and queasiness have been gone since about 9 weeks, so I feel pretty normal about food/eating right now.

I have been feeling pretty good.  I have had a few headaches but I am not sure if they are pregnancy related or something else.

Clothing-wise I have a lot of tight fitting shirts that don't look so great right now.  I still have a pair of jeans that fit fine, but another pair that is super tight.

Random Facts:
Pregnancy tests taken: 1 (super positive)
Days till due date: 187
Pounds gained: 7 or 8
Movements felt:  Possibly felt some movement during a massage the other day, I was laying face down and I thought I felt something, but nothing else.
Size of baby: 2.9 inches (peach) .81oz
Baby info: Baby body starts to catch up to the size of the head, motor skills starting to work better.  Babies start growing at different rates at this time.  Intestines are moving from umbilical cord to the babies abdomen.
Complaints:  None
Cravings: None

22 Months Old!

Zuri is getting so close to being two years old!  I would say it is a combination of things seeming to go very quickly and things being quite tiring.  I can't complain about anything with Zuri.  She handled herself amazingly with having her tonsils and adenoids out.  She really is a good kid.  The people at the gym today told us that they have never seen her cry.  I told them that she cried for 4 months straight as a baby and she is more likely to cry when we are at home.  But because Zuri's favorite time of the day is gym daycare (Thank God, since that is my favorite time of the day going to the gym!), they rarely see an unhappy child.  When we get to the gym she says "ball?" Because she wants to go and get a ball.  We walk inside and she hands the card to the front desk, laughing and having her eyes closed, which makes me laugh.  Then I put her down and she RUNS to the daycare area.  Once we get in there she gives the card to the person at the desk and wants me to walk her in (on most days).  I walk her to the basketball courts where she promptly gives me a kiss and runs off to find a ball.  Today I also got a wave.  She really does enjoy the gym.

Her language skills....well, still about the same.  She will say a word then not say it again.  I swear I heard her say Thank You the other day when we went out to eat.  But she hasn't said it again.  If I ask her to say "Please" or "Thank You" she just gives me a kiss.  She has discovered the Halloween candy and after she eats she runs to eat and says "mmmmmmmm".  Then I tell her to say please and she gives me a kiss, I give her the piece and then tell her to say thank you, which yields another kiss.  This from a kid who doesn't like giving kisses!  She does say "momma" a lot more consistently.  She was saying it just randomly, but now she says it a lot because if I leave the room, I hear "mommmmma" because she doesn't like when I leave the room.

We read before nap time and bed time and she LOVES doing this.  She even wants to take books to bed with her.  Which can't happen at nap time because we are having major napping issues.  Either she talks for an hour then naps great, or like today, talks for 3 straight hours before I get her up.  This would probably be my only issue.  Mainly because I want her to be well rested so she stays in a good mood.

She is really in the phase of loving Mickey Mouse (and all of the characters) especially Goofy.  She likes to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates and sometimes Sofia the First and Bubble Guppies too.  Glad we are branching out from JUST Dora.

Zuri went on a no eating strike for a few weeks in month 21, but we are back full force with eating right now.  She loves enchiladas and spicy food.  She likes fruit, especially watermelon.  Tomatoes and cucumbers are also high on the list.

She has picked up a ridiculous fake cry, she closes her eyes and fake cries.  It's quite funny.  Not sure why she thinks this will make me give her what she wants but I think when she had her tonsils out she was getting spoiled a bit, now we have to go back to ignoring the whining.

Her breathing is so much better now that she had her tonsils and adenoids out it is ridiculous.  It was definitely one of the best decisions I could have made, even if I was doubting it!

Announcing #2!

I am now about 12.5 weeks pregnant.  I announced our pregnancy by doing a pumpkin for Halloween. It was a great way to announce it because it was different than what most people do!  However, it was also cause for some confusion with what I had carved!  I thought it was pretty clear :)

Let's see, I found out I was pregnant on September 11th.  With Zuri I found out on Mother's Day and I wanted to have a special day to "test".  Most people that are hoping to become pregnant test 10 times, I actually waited 5 extra days before I took a test.  I took the test on Pedro's first day of work on the road, out of in house training for the department.  It is also my mom's birthday.  It was most definitely positive!!  With Zuri it was very faint and I wasn't sure, but this one there was no question!

I actually didn't tell Pedro when I found out that it was positive.  I wanted to tell him in a fun way.  I like surprises (although nobody ever surprises me with fun things..sad!) so it took me awhile to figure out how to tell him.  I waited until Sunday when we were doing a restaurant review at one of our favorite brunch places.  I brought a little bag with a shirt in it that said "Awesome Big Sister".  I hid it in my jacket and the first chance I got I brought it to a different server and asked them to give it to our server to bring to the table.  After awhile we finished an appetizer and the server came over and cleared our plate and said that he wanted to "bring a little something special to the table."  Pedro had no idea, he was thinking that the server knew we were doing a review.  He was so confused.  He opened the bag and saw the shirt and he immediately teared up.  He was like "Are you pregnant?!"  I said yes, then he said "It's a girl?"  I was confused at this point, then he said, oh wait you wouldn't know yet.  He was confused because the shirt was a pink shirt.  Makes me laugh.  Anyway, it was a fun way to surprise him!

Symptom-wise it has been pretty much the same as my first pregnancy, so far.  I had no real signs that I was pregnant.  At about 6.5 weeks I got nauseas.  I was nauseas off and on all day long.  This was mixed with being STARVING.  When I say starving, I mean like I haven't eaten in days hungry.  I had this in my first pregnancy too.  I guess it is better to have this then actually wanting to throw up all the time.  So between being nauseas and starving it made for some weird eating days.  The queasiness and hunger eased up at about 9 weeks.

I was flying to California for a tournament, so my doctors office suggested I do an ultrasound and blood work before flying, since I was newly pregnant and they wanted to be on the safe side. I was 6 weeks and 3 days at my appointment.  I also got an early appointment with Zuri because I was flying to Kansas at about 7 weeks!   My due date was found to be May 19th, 2014.  The baby was measuring at 6 weeks 1 day, with a heart rate of 123bpm.

I went to the doctor for my second prenatal appointment at 10 weeks (they do appointments every 4 weeks at this point).  We did another ultrasound and they verified that I was on track for my due date on May 19th, 2014.  I actually measured 10 weeks 2 days.  All looked good at the appointment.  I forgot to have her tell me the heart rate! Not a very good ultrasound picture, it was straight on, the baby was not cooperating to give a profile!

Since about 9 weeks, I feel back to normal.  My belly is quite big.  It really is just bloat by the evening, which is so weird!  But my morning belly is still a lot bigger this time around than last time.  I still workout every day (except last week with Zuri being home-bound with surgery).

10 weeks...

11 weeks..

12 weeks (after breakfast!)..

I am hoping that we are as lucky as we were the first time around with my working out and how I felt throughout the pregnancy.

But as the ultrasound tech said, it's kind of like "having one foot on the gas and one on the brake!"  You are excited but also a little scared of the exhaustion of a newborn!

Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy Day 5-10

I was really worried for days 5-10 with Zuri.  The doctor, nurse, internet, paper the hospital gave me, pretty much everything has said that during these days the "scabs" start coming off and it can be worse than immediately after surgery.  What could that mean? Since Zuri was eating cheetos right after surgery, I was really worried that we would make a huge turn for the worse.  We are not on day 14 yet, of what is to be a full 2 week recovery, but she has been awesome!

Zuri hasn't had any prescription medicine and has just had some tylenol and advil during these days.  She has even had mostly a half a dose.  On day 8, she woke in a great mood and so I opted to not give her anything in the morning.  Then she was eating a breakfast sandwich and the first bite she started crying.  I'm assuming it was her tonsils so I gave her some advil and she seemed to be fine.  We have been a little bit weepy sometimes after naps, but that is to be expected.

Today (day 10) she hasn't had any medicine at all.  She woke well, played at the gym, ate well and had a good day.  Except she was on a nap strike again from 1:30-4:00pm where she played in her room the entire nap time.

I have noticed a huge difference, even from the first day.  Her breathing is no longer labored, or sounding like she is running.  When I go check on her at night I can't hear her breathing or snoring.  It has made what appears to be a huge difference.  I don't know how she feels because she can't tell me, but I think it has been just a huge improvement.

We aren't at the full two weeks yet, but at this point no matter how she acts she has been really amazing!
