Getting Big!!

Zuri is getting so big!  Her sitting skills are on again and off again, like most things in her life!

Then she tries to reach for something (or as you can see swinging the animals around) and falls over.

She had her first try at sitting in the high chair at a restaurant, but it was a bad day (long with little napping) so it was not a fun time for her.  In fact, about five minutes after this picture I brought her home and got her ready for bed, while nana, papa, abuela and daddy all stayed to eat their olive garden!

Abuela was here visiting for a week.  Here they are together at Dena's birthday party!

We have been having a new issue at night (not that we needed ANOTHER issue!).  Zuri keeps rolling over onto her stomach and getting stuck up against the crib and can't get back over.  She SCREAMS like a crazy baby until I go in and get her back over.  But then of course she won't just go back to sleep, because she is freaked out!  If she would just learn to roll over stomach to back better.  She rolled over again this morning for me, on the floor, but only when I first lay her on the floor and her arms are in a "good" spot for doing this, she doesn't get that she needs to move her arms up to roll over, instead she superman's out and can't get back over.  So, I had to put a rolled up tiny blanket in the crib that is going from her belly button toward the crib wall (as she only rolls over on one side at night) since she sleeps on her left side.  This way hopefully she can't roll over and yet it is in a good spot, to keep her safe still.

It has been so smokey lately that I haven't been able to go out for a run with Zuri.  It is really quite sad for me, since that is my main option for working out, besides biking inside, which isn't very exciting or difficult.

I weighed her today, with all of her clothes on and she weighed 16 lbs 3 oz.  Which means that she probably is just under 16 lbs without clothes.  At her four month appointment she was 13 lbs, so that means she has gained about 3 lbs in 6 weeks!!

We leave in 6 days for Oregon and another tournament, hoping this trip goes better than the Kansas one!

The Three Amigos....

Playing in the pool on Father's day (although Pedro worked all day, so we didn't spend it with him), it was 97 degrees so we needed to cool off!

Sitting Pretty...

Ok, not exactly pretty, but Zuri is learning how to sit!  She is constantly WANTING to sit, but she doesn't really know how.  Yesterday, she was doing a decent job of sitting while holding on to her playmat (sometimes she prefers to sit next to her playmat, not lay on it).

Today, Pedro took her outside for a bit and she was sitting quite well!  I think she was holding on to the blanket underneath of her, but she did a pretty good job!

She also rolled over from front to back again (only one more time).

5 MONTHS!

Zuri is officially 5 months old!  I can't believe it!  It's amazing how much they grow in such a short time.  She is now wearing 9 month pants (although some 6 month pants fit) and 6 month onesies.  We had to go out and buy a few more pajamas because she outgrew all of the ones that we had.  I remember that some of them we thought were so huge when we got them and now she is so big that she broke a zipper on one of the legs!

She still has only rolled over from stomach to back the one time.  She has had quite a few back to stomach roll overs, but mainly in her crib while she is sleeping.  Probably because she likes to sleep on her side and rolls over sometimes in the process.

Today while trying to teach her "squeezes" aka hugs, she was holding onto my neck and standing on my legs without me holding on to her!

She has been a pretty good girl for us!

At 5 months she has been enjoying her jumperoo...

She enjoys practicing sitting...
Oddly in the picture above I was getting her to reach for my hand, which she did, but that was one of the first times, so I am not sure if it was on purpose!
Here she is sitting without any back support, which she can do sometimes in chairs etc, but not on the floor yet.

She has been enjoying playing with her feet.
Enjoys sweet potatoes and carrots
For her supplemental bottle we have found that she loves the Organic Earths Best formula (she did not like many of the other formulas we tried).
She likes to play on her play mat
She likes her bath (can't wait till she can sit well because I bought her a winnie the pooh small bath tub, instead of having to fill the whole tub).
She likes splashing in the bath (not so good for me, because we are still washing her in the infant tub on the changing table, so it splashes everywhere!)
She loves kisses
Especially kisses on the belly
Enjoys going out to places to watch people
Likes to look at herself in the mirror
Loves the dogs (especially Polar)

Dislikes:
Laying on her stomach (I keep trying because I want her to roll over again!)
Some days she dislikes her naps!

I know there must be more dislikes, but that is all I can think of!

Almost 1/2 year old!

Long Weekend...

Zuri made it through her first tournament.  It was one of the longest ones we have had.  We arrived on Friday evening after a short 1hr flight.  Our flight went pretty well, but she definitely likes to move and not sit still!  Makes for an exhausting flight for me!

Saturday was the horrible day.  We played 9 games, from 10am until 9pm.  With very short breaks.  Zuri had very little if any naps that day.  Mainly, naps occurred in the car going to a different gym.  That night she went to bed, woke up once to eat, then I had to wake her up at 8:45 for our next games.  We had 3 games and a flight back home.  She was definitely tired, she fell asleep while I was holding her in the airport and stayed asleep for the first 15 minutes of our flight.  Then she woke up and was pretty happy.  The people in my row commented on what a "happy baby" she is, if they only knew our previous life!

Sunday night she went to bed at 7, slept until 530 for a feeding, slept again until 845 for another feeding and woke up around 10am!  Only to go back for her nap at 1120!  She was making up for lost sleep!

Here are a few cute pictures:

She has gotten so big that her pants now look like capris!  This onesie was so small we didn't even button it! (sadly, it was only worn this time, I didn't realize she had outgrown this size so quickly!)

Practicing our sitting skills at the hotel!  Of course she had to wear basketball gear to the games!

MONSTER!!!! HELP!
