Mexico--A little late!

In December we decided to go to Mexico with both kids.  We wanted to get away for a little bit and we knew that we would not be going on another vacation again until next December, so we decided last minute to go!

The flight down there went quite well.  Avi, is still at a great age of being fine sitting in one place and this time we decided Zuri would just sit in the seat instead of a carseat.  This made a HUGE difference. She enjoyed sitting in her seat and being able to play on the tray table and watch movies.  I had a lot of different new things for her for the trip, so she would be surprised when we got on the plane.  I had bought her a sticker book, potato heads, a new coloring book and crayons and her two video players, along with plenty of snacks.  The flight down was pretty non-eventful.

We arrived and Zuri was in an excited mood to be going to MEXICO! And the BEACH!!

This time we stayed at a different Azul resort (one which we will not be staying at again), our room did have an ocean view, but it was closer to the lobby and the kids club.  The problem with this was that at night the evening show that started at 9:30pm was VERY LOUD and since we were already in bed at that time it was really annoying.  The reason we were already in bed was because the room layout was backward compared to what it was at the last hotel.  This room had the bathroom first, with a light shining into the next room, which is where Zuri slept, then our room and where I had to put Avi's crib.  It would have been much better had Zuri's room been on the far end of the room so we could get up and move about without waking her.

Zuri loved the beach, but what she really loved were other kids on the beach.  She was always very sad if there weren't a lot of kids to play with.  She would always ask me "Where are the kids??"  One time she took a girl and the girls mom for a really long walk down the beach.  I eventually ran after her and asked where they were going and the mom told me that Zuri said she was taking them to some swings. I laughed because Zuri had completely made this up!  What a little story teller.  She also enjoyed doing Zumba on the beach!

We would get down to the beach in the morning and get a cabana.  Avi would nap in the cabana and Zuri would play.  Then after lunch I would take both kids back and try to get them to sleep.  Avi was easy, but Zuri did not want to sleep, although she was over tired and then she got sick.

As with the last time we went to Mexico, the biggest issue was that Zuri got sick.  She had a very high fever, but I have no idea what it was because I decided it was probably best to not know!  She was burning up, lethargic and massive bathroom issues.  This happened on Thursday and we had only been there since Tuesday and we were leaving on Monday.  She was really bad on Thursday and Friday and a bit better on Saturday.  But she still had the bathroom issues the whole trip and they continued for another week or so at home.  UGH!

All in all the trip was just ok.  We won't be returning to this resort and hopefully next trip the kids stay well the whole time!

Avi's first experience with a wave!
