Another State For Zuri

Zuri has now completed her 13th and 14th legs of flights and has been in her 6th state (Missouri, Oregon, Illinois, California, Arizona and Colorado) plus Mexico.  We had a basketball tournament in Arizona so Zuri and Pedro came with me.

The flight out was pretty non-eventful, which is always good news when flying with a kid (note: not a baby).  She had her own seat and played with her cars, enjoyed looking out the window, watching some of her videos, and even fell backwards off her seat without even crying (don't ask us how this happened, we apparently were not paying attention).

The tournament went well.  She enjoyed Dunkin Donuts muffins for breakfast, and snacks and crackers  galore.  The players liked to give her crackers and snacks, actually Zuri would dig through the diaper bag during the games and find yummy treats to eat.

It did take some sneaking off to be able to go and coach my games.  She is definitely in a phase of not wanting me to leave her anywhere or with anyone.  She wants me to carry her or hold her and I can only get away by sneaking off.  She played with her cars during the games and other things with the players.  We had two teams, so one team would watch her while the other was playing.

I felt bad a few times because I had to wake her from naps to go to games, but she seemed to do well.  Our hotel had a water park, where Zuri and I played for a bit one day (Pedro went to the gym instead of playing with us) and the next day we were hoping to go back but Zuri took a long nap and so we didn't have time.

I didn't get more pictures because once she saw the water she ran off and that was it!

The return flight, lucky number 14, was not so lucky.  We had a bulk head seat and so we had lots of room for her to play while others were boarding.  Our flight was really late and I assumed she would sleep some.  She had other plans.  She was over tired and hyped up.  She wanted to walk around and play, which of course most of the flight was with seat belt "on" sign.  But even so, we didn't have an extra seat so she had to sit on my lap and we didn't want her bothering the person on our row, so she had to sit with me.  Zuri did not nap at all on this flight and had quite a few temper tantrums at me not letting her go and play, or letting her have Pedro's pretzels and peanuts.  The stewardess was super nice and wanted to go walk with her, however, that defeated my purpose of her not getting to go and "play" and disturb others that wanted to be sleeping...but I let her take her and that didn't last long because Zuri realized she wasn't with me about 2 minutes later and wanted me back.  Great fun.  I go with the flow on it and realize I can only do what I can do, so sorry to the people around me if they think she was annoying.
